St. Francis' Day
Thanks to Lynne Freeman and her helpers we had a wonderful Harvest Dinner this year.
We have kicked off our annual pledge drive, remembering our
Baptismal Covenant and that we are washed in the Living Water of Jesus Christ.
As of print time, it is still too early to give you any results, but stay
posted, they will be coming. Meanwhile, I share with you my own little story. I
was baptized when I was a little baby, washed and brought into the community of
God’s Church. I left church as a teenager, and returned to it when my children
were small. That baptism, that long forgotten event in my life, re-emerged in
ways I certainly did not expect. And in those promises made on my behalf so long
ago, I vowed to continue in the apostles’ teaching and fellowship, in the
breaking of bread and in the prayers. Each year as I consider my own pledge to
the parish I think of how important it is for us to live our salvation story, to
remember and retell the story of Jesus Christ and to share in the Eucharistic
banquet. Of course, we are called to do work in the world, to be mission minded,
but if we don’t come together first in our fellowship to praise God from whom
all blessings flow, to feed ourselves in the sacramental feast of bread and
wine, and to remember our story of salvation, we go out into the world
empty-handed. Our pledges allow us to "Go in peace to love and serve the Lord."
Pray about your commitment and be generous in the name of Him who is generous
beyond our wildest expectations. 140th Annual Diocesan Convention On Friday and Saturday of the upcoming week, (November 14 and 15)your rector, delegates and youth representatives will be joining people from throughout the Diocese of Central New York for the 140th Diocesan Convention in Liverpool, New York. This year’s delegates are Sue and Lew Jones, the alternate is Alfreda Archie and the youth reps are Chris Meade and Mat Garceau. The theme of this year’s gathering is Transformation through Formation or as they put it, tf2. Reports to follow.
3rd Night
Celebration: Third Night is a new program here at St. Paul’s, a time to come together and enjoy each other’s company as we "break bread" together. We start with a casual potluck/covered dish dinner (bring your own table setting) and then move into a short and "bookless" Eucharistic celebration. This is your opportunity to sing some of your favorite (church) songs (Here I Am, Lord, etc.) complete with accompaniment. For those of you who have homework to do, we will be done by 7:30, plenty of time to go home and "crack" those books. LET’S BREAK BREAD TOGETHER! Binghamton District
