3rd Night
Celebration: What is 3rd night and why would I want to go? Third Night is a new program here at St. Paul’s, a time to come together and enjoy each other’s company as we "break bread" together. We will start with a casual potluck/covered dish dinner (bring your own table setting) and then move into a short and "bookless" Eucharistic celebration. This is your opportunity to sing some of your favorite (church) songs (Here I Am, Lord, etc.) complete with accompaniment. (If you have any particular favorites you would like included please see Paula Giroux or Rev. Susanna and we’ll add them to our own little songbook.) We will "break bread" together in our community dinner and then we will "break bread" together as the Church gathered in Holy Communion. And we will be doing this monthly (except during Lent) on the third Tuesday of every month. For those of you who have homework to do, we will be done by 7:30, plenty of time to go home and "crack" those books. Join us for the 3rd Night Celebration on Tuesday, November 18th in the Fellowship Hall and LET’S BREAK BREAD TOGETHER!
2008 Fall Stewardship Update We have kicked off our annual pledge drive, remembering our
Baptismal Covenant and that we are washed in the Living Water of Jesus Christ.
As of print time, it is still too early to give you any results, but stay
posted, they will be coming. Meanwhile, I share with you my own little story. I
was baptized when I was a little baby, washed and brought into the community of
God’s Church. I left church as a teenager, and returned to it when my children
were small. That baptism, that long forgotten event in my life, re-emerged in
ways I certainly did not expect. And in those promises made on my behalf so long
ago, I vowed to continue in the apostles’ teaching and fellowship, in the
breaking of bread and in the prayers. Each year as I consider my own pledge to
the parish I think of how important it is for us to live our salvation story, to
remember and retell the story of Jesus Christ and to share in the Eucharistic
banquet. Of course, we are called to do work in the world, to be mission minded,
but if we don’t come together first in our fellowship to praise God from whom
all blessings flow, to feed ourselves in the sacramental feast of bread and
wine, and to remember our story of salvation, we go out into the world
empty-handed. Our pledges allow us to "Go in peace to love and serve the Lord."
Pray about your commitment and be generous in the name of Him who is generous
beyond our wildest expectations.
Thanksgiving is coming soon. We will offer a time for you to leave your kitchens, your chopping and shopping and come together in praise and worship of God who provides so bountifully for us. Holy Eucharist will be celebrated on Wednesday, November 26th at 7:00 P.M., with choir. Join us-take a moment to give thanks for all the blessings of our lives. The Prayer Chain The Prayer Chain is a group of people who pray very hard for those people who are in more critical situations, such as the day of someone's surgery or when someone experiences a crisis. To start the chain, call the office or Alfreda Archie at 724-4677. Other members of the chain are Dorothy Ayers, Dottie Bachman, Mary Buffum, Barbara Dailey, Jane Reed, Judy Shannon, Bill and Keri Smith, and Mary Van Osten,. The names of people added to the chain are not published. Typically, prayers are said for anywhere from a few days to two or three weeks. Pastoral Care at St. Paul’s
A Plea from your Rector: Let us know. Because of the current HIPAA regulations, hospitals and care centers will not release information about patients. We have NO way of knowing if you or a loved one has been hospitalized. Please, please call the parish office or the rector directly if you or a member of your family is in the hospital. We want to know so we can pray for you and so we can visit and support you during this difficult time. Thank you. | ||||||||||||||
